Meet Jorge Sousa the Team Captain of Legs Miserables!

In how many Run4aChild editions/challenges did you participate in?

I participated in two challenges so far.

Do you enjoy participating in the Run4aChild initiative?

Yes, I love it. It represents a good social reason to be on the move.

Tell us about your personal experience in the Run4aChild challenge.

Personally, the challenge was very important. Above all, it was important in this Covid-era because it “forced me” to be physically active.

How did you came up with your team name? How did you set up your team?

The name of the Team: “Legs Miserables” came up due to the film “Les Miserables”. It was also aligned with the physical state of our team members in the beginning. The team members are always present in my daily routine. In my team I have co-workers, clients and people from my hometown Arouca 😊 ! The comments about the challenge are pretty positive and all of the members are focused on achieving their goals.

Your team is in the top 5 in the team ranking! How do you push your runners so far?

We are always pushing each other, despite having people with different levels. There are some people that walk and others that RUN A LOT. But above all, we want to make sure that we accomplish the individual goals. After that, we just have to keep running/walking, without forgetting why we are doing this.

Do you think Run4aChild has a positive impact in your life?

Without a doubt, Run4aChild has a very positive impact. Personally, I also walk with my two sons, and they motivate me to keep on going to be able to help other kids that do not have the same privileges as they do. So, it is really helping me to teach these good values to my little kids.

Were there any changes in your lifestyle thanks to your participation?

I started to force myself to walk at least twice a week. Without a doubt my lifestyle has changed for the better.

What tips can you share to people that are about to start running?

My advice is to just start. I believe that is the most difficult part. It is important to make sure that we have a healthy lifestyle, because we will see the benefits of walking some kms a day. I feel more energized and I sleep better on the days that I walk.

Can you share your run/walking routines? For example, what hours do you prefere to run/walk?

During the week, I walk in the evening after dinner in the area where I live. On the weekends, I prefer to walk with my kids in Parque Verde and Choupal, in Coimbra.

Have you achieve already the Kanimambo individual Goal? If yes, was it hard?

Yes, I already accomplished my goal!

Will you join us in the future challenge? What would you like to see in the next challenge?

Of course, I will always participate. In the next challenge, I want to run more kms than in this one! I want to push myself further. Thank you for the initiative. I am sure that my team will keep pushing hard to help the cause. Congrats!

May this testimonial be an inspiration for these last steps of the Kanimambo challenge. Only 2 weeks left!

Your Run4aChild Team.
